What is a Thread Lift?

A Thread Lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses biocompatible, absorbable threads to lift and tighten sagging skin. Popular in Korea and now FDA-approved in the U.S., this treatment uses threads with tiny cones that anchor and elevate tissue, providing both immediate lifting and long-term regeneration. The threads are made from PLLA and PLGA (Poly L Lactic Acid & Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid), both utilised safely in medicine for decades. PLLA and PLGA stimulate collagen synthesis from the activation of the fibroblasts present in the skin. This stimulation occurs in the tissue area surrounding the suture and cones.

Is there any downtime?

The treatment is well tolerated with the help of topical anaesthetic cream and local anaesthetic. There is little to no downtime where you are able to return to your normal activities right after the treatment. Occasionally, there may be minor discomfort, swelling and bruising after the treatment, which will resolve within a few days. To minimise the risk of bruising, patients are advised to stop their oral supplements 1 week prior to the procedure.
