What is TCA Cross?

TCA cross is used for treatment for deep acne scars, enlarged pores and overall skin texture. It is used as an adjunct or alternative to lasers when the scars are not improving despite multiple sessions of lasers.

This dermatological procedure involves a high concentration of 100% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and is meticulously applied deep within acne scars.

It works by stimulating the production of new collagen, which gradually filling in the depressions and hence creating a lifting effect on the skin’s surface, resulting in improvement in scars.

Am I suitable for TCA Cross?

TCA cross is suitable for you if you have any of the following, enlarged pores, ice pick scars, rolling scars and boxcar scars.

How many treatments do I need and how long does it take?

1 session can improve the appearance of the scars by 30%. It is recommended to do a few sessions for best outcome. The procedure takes 5-20 minutes depending on the number of scars.

Is there any downtime?

There is immediate frosting of the skin, followed by scabbing and erythema over the treated area. Generally it takes a few days for recovery.

Is TCA cross painful?

There is some smarting sensation on application of the product which subsides after a couple of seconds. It is very tolerable and no numbness cream is required.
